How to make this fruit infused water recipe

Making this fruit infused water recipe is almost as simple as just throwing fruit into water. But, there are a few tips that help to bring out the flavor. You’ll want to let the flavors meld for about 1 hour in the refrigerator before drinking. We found that was especially true with this fruit infused water, though some of our other infused water recipes tasted good right away. So, make sure to think ahead a bit with this recipe. Other than that, it’s a breeze to make!

Here’s how to make fruit infused water:

  1. Determine the fruit you want to use. You can use any fruit and herbs you like: we used 1 orange, a handful of strawberries, and a handful of basil.
  2. Thinly slice the oranges and strawberries. Place them in the bottom of a pitcher with the basil.
  3. Use a wooden spoon to muddle (lightly mash) the fruit and herbs to release their juices.
  4. Add 8 cups cold water and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

How to grow fresh herbs

This water uses a handful of fresh basil or mint: and it’s so much more fun to grow it yourself! We grow herbs all summer long, and it’s one of the most satisfying things to run out to the garden and harvest a few herbs. You don’t even need garden space: you can just grow herbs in pots as long as you have a sunny ledge! And adding herbs to your cooking is a healthy flavor addition, without adding calories. Why make fruit infused water recipes?

First of all: it looks incredibly beautiful! This fruit infused water recipe is perfect for entertaining. It’s also incredibly refreshing! The lightly sweet, aromatic flavor of this fruit infused water is reason alone.

But also, drinking loads of water is always a good thing! It’s fantastic for your health. Fruit infused water seems like something much more special than just tap water, which makes it a great substitute for soda or other sugary drinks. It has no sugar at all: it’s just fruit, herbs and water!

What about the acid in citrus juices?

Drinking acidic liquids like orange juice and lemon juice can erode the enamel of your teeth over time, but only if you’re drinking them very frequently. If you’re drinking this fruit infused water only occasionally, this should not be a problem. If you’re drinking citrus infused waters every day, try drinking through a straw to avoid contact with your teeth. You can also use less citrus overall: you could cut back to ½ orange in this recipe.
