This easy roasted red potatoes recipe makes the best crispy spuds! They’re seasoned and oven roasted to perfection.

Roasted red potatoes

Here’s a simple side dish that’s always satisfying: Roasted Red Potatoes! These spuds come out crispy and savory, seasoned with garlic powder and salt. A bit of Parmesan cheese gives them even crispier roasty bits. Bake up a sheet pan of these little spuds, and each bite is a little bit of heaven! These disappeared in an instant over here. Here’s how to roast red potatoes to perfection.

Types of red potatoes

Red potatoes are part of a family called waxy potatoes, a potato with thin, shiny skin and a creamy flesh. Because they’re low in starch, they hold their shape well when cooked. In contrast, starchy potatoes like russet potatoes have a fluffy texture when cooked. You can find a few different types of potatoes at the store:

  • Red potatoes: Potatoes labeled as such are usually medium sized, with a shiny reds skin
  • Baby red potatoes: Baby red potatoes are a younger stage of red potatoes: they have an even more delicate flavor
  • Mini red potatoes or creamer potatoes: These are also younger stages of red potatoes and may be similar to baby potatoes, or even smaller
